Story: Delta Chi is one of the oldest and most prestigious fraternities in the country. A brother came to me to design an original t-shirt. As usual, I began with brainstorm drawings in my sketchpad, then assembled the pieces into an intricate emblem using digital vector programs. The design is meant to encompass elements from their classic logo (the battle axe, scimitars  and the martlets) but present them in a modern, innovative way. I gave myself plenty of time to develop this design and it definitely paid off. I was able to explore some new techniques that I had recently learned. Instead of drawing the axe and swords in a 2-dimensional program I sculpted them in a 3D modeling program and exported the shapes to be used in illustrator. This approach opens up new possibilities to design complex 3D objects in a much quicker and more versatile platform.
